Does your day involve a lot of sitting? Does your back ache? Being on a chair all day shorten your hip flexors and cause your pelvis to tip forward. This puts a lot of pressure on your spine, which causes pain. Your spine should be vertical, but since your pelvis is tilting, it gets curved. Try this amazing stretch by WeShape to cure your lower back pain. There are two variations for this exercise, one that involves keeling down and one in a standing position. You can choose whatever is comfortable for you. Keep on reading or watch the video below for full instructions.

Materials

  • soft pillow, cushion, carpet, or towel
  • chair or beside a wall

Instructions

Exercise 1 (Involves kneeling)

Step 1:

Go down to a kneeling position on top of a soft surface (you can use a pillow, cushion, carpet, or towel).

Step 2:

Turn your hips forward. Your pelvis should be facing straight forward, then put your hands on your hips. Next, drop your pelvis towards your front heel. Inhale once you hit the position, then exhale when you drop your pelvis towards the front heel. You’ll feel a big stretch coming through the top of your thigh all the way to your abdomen. Do this for 30 seconds.

Exercise 2 (Doesn’t involve kneeling)

Step 1:

Go to a space with a wall next to you, or you can use a chair for support.

Step 2:

The first thing you need to do is to step one foot forward with your hands on your hip.

Step 3:

Drop your hips toward your front heel while keeping this hip straight forward. Do not bend your upper body forward. Your body should be upright as you do the stretch. You want to push your pelvis for 30 seconds. Inhale while you’re in the resting position, then exhale as you bend it.
