I love making crafts or handmade projects and it has become my hobby for some time now. Recently, my interest has been in recycling or upcycling items that are otherwise deemed trash or unusable. I figured that this is a practical and efficient way to give them a new purpose without having to break the bank or purchase an expensive counterpart online.

When I found this idea from My Little Slice of Paradise on YouTube, I was immediately interested and excited to try making my version of a DIY birdbath using vintage dishware, I also think that this is a great idea to preserve your favorite or old plates, bowls, teacups, and vases. It looks incredibly lovely and it’s perfect as an accent or decor to your yard or garden, too.

Materials for DIY Vintage Dish Birdbath:

  • E6000 adhesive
  • Spirit level
  • Marbles
  • Vintage dishes, plates, teacups, bowls, etc.

Step 1

First off, gather your dishware and other glass items, then plan how you want your birdbath to look, and group them into sections. Starting with the base, place a regular plate upside down, then adhere the next dishware over the bottom of the plate with adhesive, and set them aside.

Step 2

Next, work on the next sections adhering them with adhesive, and wrap their edges with painter’s tape if desired, this will help keep them in place. Set the sections aside, then leave them to dry overnight, and proceed to adhere the sections together.

Step 3

Now, make sure that they have some sort of support so they don’t tip over or move around while they dry, then once dried completely, place them anywhere you want, and fill them with water.
