Terms Of Use

Last updated: July 2026

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using diyjoy.com (the “Site”), operated by DIYJOY/TRMI (“DIY JOY,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these Terms, please discontinue using the Site immediately. Your continued use of the Site signifies your assent and agreement to these Terms of Use, including any future updates we make to them.

2. About DIY JOY & Our Content

DIY JOY is a real team of makers, writers, and photographers. We create and share original craft and recipe projects, and we also curate carefully selected ideas from other talented creators, always with full credit and links back to the original source. How we create, vet, and credit content is explained in our Editorial Policy, and it works hand-in-hand with these Terms of Use, which govern how the Site and its content may be used.

3. Content Ownership

DIY JOY Original Content

All article text, and all original photos, videos, and graphics created by DIY JOY, are the copyrighted work of DIY JOY and its credited contributors. This original content is owned solely by DIY JOY. It may not be copied, reposted, edited for reuse, or published on any other website, blog, or platform without our express written permission.

Curated Content

Many of our posts feature projects we didn’t create ourselves — roundups and curated features that highlight other makers’ work with full credit and a direct link back to them, consistent with our Editorial Policy. Because that underlying project belongs to its original creator, curated content may never be reused, republished, or repurposed without that creator’s express permission. DIY JOY cannot and does not grant any right to reuse third-party-credited material, and no part of these Terms should be read as doing so.

Beyond the limited allowance described in our Image & Content Sharing Policy below, no DIY JOY content — original or curated — may be used commercially, resold, or republished on another site. Because craft and recipe content is frequently copied without permission, we actively monitor for misuse; see Section 7 (Copyright Enforcement / DMCA) for how we handle it.

4. Image & Content Sharing Policy

We love when other bloggers and websites feature our projects — it’s genuinely one of our favorite things. Here’s the reciprocal policy that makes that possible for everyone:

  • You may use one (1) image from a single DIY JOY post in a roundup, feature, or similar article.
  • The image must be used unaltered — no cropping, editing, or removing/covering our watermark.
  • The image must carry visible credit to DIY JOY.
  • The image must include a direct link back to the specific original post (not just our homepage) It is required that you include the blog name as well as a do-follow link.
  • You may include a short excerpt of our text to introduce the image, but not a substantial reproduction of the post, supplies or instructions.
  • Full tutorials, recipes, or posts may not be copied or shared in their entirety under any circumstances.
  • You may not use our images or written tutorials to build or illustrate your own tutorial.
  • You may not use our content in any way that implies our sponsorship, endorsement, or partnership with you or your site.
  • You may not directly monetize our images (for example, selling prints, using them in paid ads, or use behind a paywall).
  • Anything beyond a single properly credited image — including press and media requests — requires permission first. Email us at stephanie (at) diyjoy (dot) com before proceeding.

Important: this allowance covers only DIY JOY’s own original content. It does not extend to curated posts or any project, photo, or material credited to a third-party creator (see Section 3) — that material may never be reused without permission from its original creator.

5. Social Media Content

The same spirit — credit, and permission for anything beyond simple sharing — applies to our social media presence. No one may download, rip, screen-record, or repost all or any part of DIY JOY’s TikTok videos, Instagram posts or Reels, Facebook posts or Reels, YouTube Shorts or videos, or any content DIY JOY publishes on any social media platform. Editing, clipping, re-uploading, or re-posting this content anywhere is prohibited without our express permission.

Sharing is only permitted through each platform’s own native share function (repost, share, retweet, etc.), and on diyjoy.com itself, only through the share buttons provided on the original article or video post. Please don’t create or circulate edited versions of our content in the name of “sharing” it.

6. Patterns & Templates

Any patterns or templates we provide are for individual, personal use only. They may not be reposted, redistributed, or shared in any form — as a file, a photo of the file, or otherwise. If you’d like to share a pattern or template with someone else, please share a link to the original project post instead, so the creator gets credit and traffic.

DIY JOY’s original content is monitored, and it is protected under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and applicable copyright law. When we find our work used without permission and outside the limited allowances in these Terms, we will pursue enforcement — including filing takedown notices with web hosts, social platforms, and search engines, and pursuing further action against repeat infringers.

If you believe your copyrighted work has been used on our Site improperly, or if you’d like to report suspected infringement of DIY JOY’s content elsewhere, or to request permission for a use not otherwise covered by these Terms, please contact us at stephanie (at) diyjoy (dot) com.

8. Permitted Use of the Site

DIYJOY/TRMI and its contributors reserve all rights, and no intellectual property rights are conferred by these Terms except as expressly stated here. Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Site and its content for your own personal, non-commercial use — including browsing, saving, and following our projects and recipes for your own home or personal crafting.

You may occasionally print or download individual pages or images for that personal use. You may not publish, distribute, transmit, reproduce, reverse-engineer, or otherwise exploit any part of the Site or its content for resale, republication, or redistribution, except as expressly permitted under Section 4 above.

9. Trademarks

The DIY JOY name, logo, and other names, graphics, and logos used on the Site may be trademarks or service marks of DIYJOY/TRMI or other parties. Display of these marks on the Site does not grant you a license to use them. Unauthorized copying or use of these marks may violate federal and state trademark law.

10. Craft & Recipe Disclaimer

Our projects and recipes are meant to be fun, but crafting and cooking carry real-world risks. You take on all projects and recipes found on the Site entirely at your own risk. Please use proper tools, ingredients, and safety precautions, follow instructions carefully, and supervise children closely around tools, hot surfaces, small parts, adhesives, or anything else that isn’t kid-safe. Skill levels, materials, and tools vary, and outcomes can vary with them — DIY JOY makes no warranty regarding the results of any project or recipe and is not liable for any injury, loss, or damage arising from your use of our content.

11. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

The Site and its content are provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. If your use of the Site or its content results in the need for repair, replacement, or correction of property or equipment, you assume the entire cost of that repair, replacement, or correction. To the fullest extent permitted by law, DIYJOY/TRMI will not be liable for any special, incidental, indirect, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Because some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations on implied warranties or liability, some of the above limitations may not apply to you.

The Site may contain links to third-party websites, as well as advertising and, from time to time, affiliate links. We aren’t responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of third-party sites, and including a link or ad doesn’t mean we endorse it. Any purchases or interactions you make through third-party links are solely between you and that third party.

13. Notices & Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page, and where appropriate, we may also provide notice via a banner notice on the Site or by email. Your continued use of the Site after any changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms, so please check back periodically.

14. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Tennessee, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. You agree that any legal action requiring injunctive relief may be brought in the state or federal courts located in Tennessee, and you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of those courts for that purpose. For any other dispute, the parties agree to first attempt resolution through mediation in Nashville, TN with costs shared equally, and if mediation is unsuccessful, through binding arbitration in Nashville under the rules of the American Arbitration Association (AAA). If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
