This is SO easy! Don’t you want to learn how to do the pretty writing on jars, chalk boards, or even the outside of a birthday card? I’d always wanted to learn how to do this! When I found this tutorial I tried this on a jar that I wanted fancy writing on and it turned out awesome! I used a paint marker on the glass so it would stay on.

So if you’re anything like me, you’ve been swooning over all of the absolutely gorgeous modern brush lettering printables, posters, invitations, inspirational quotes, and lettering bits floating around Pinterest and the Internet. So much delicious lettering stuff out there right now.

I recently made a friend one of my famous “Happy Jars” that I make up for gifts to my friends and this writing style put the perfect touch on the outside of the jar! I’m so glad I learned how to do this and was really surprised to find out how easy it was!

Brush lettering requires you to control the angle and pressure of your pen to create thick down strokes and thin up strokes, which creates the look we’re all so crazy about! Piece of cake! Now, make a million of them. Really. I’m not kidding. Repetition is your friend when it comes to mastering this technique because it really will help your hand muscles remember how to do it next time. I know it sounds weird, but trust me, it’s just like riding a bike or dancing. Once we train the muscles how to do this, you’ll be able to write smoothly and quickly with beautiful results!

Hand lettering is such a useful skill to know how to do these days! It is very trendy, makes for a great gift or art for your own home, is a very inexpensive hobby to start learning, and if you enjoy it and find you’re naturally skilled (or like me take the time to get good enough) you can even make a little business out of it.
