6. Simple Elastic Waist Skirt
This simple skirt really does sew up in about 15 minutes, with no paper pattern at all. Measure around the hips and add an inch, then decide the length and add an inch and a half; that rectangle is the whole pattern. Sew it into a tube, press and hem the bottom. Join a loop of one inch elastic, mark it and the skirt into quarters with pins, then stitch the elastic right on top of the fabric, stretching as you go. Bold printed cotton or a knit with stretch looks great.

7. No-Sew Footstool
A no-sew footstool with a bold fabric top comes together in about an hour for around $35. Cut a 12 by 15 inch plywood base (or have the store cut it), sand the corners round so they won’t snag the batting, then stack four inch foam, batting and fabric on top. Pull the fabric taut and staple it underneath, folding the corners like a present. Screw on angled top plates and screw in four tapered legs for that midcentury splay. A fat quarter stapled underneath as a dust cover hides the staples.

8. Letter and Vintage Wallpaper Art
Letter and vintage wallpaper art is the best use yet for a partial roll of wallpaper too pretty to toss. Cut the paper a few inches larger than a square of scrap plywood, brush matte decoupage medium on the wood and lay it face down on the back of the paper. Flip it, roll out the bubbles with a rolling pin, then fold the edges and corners around to the back. Center a galvanized metal letter with a ruler and glue it on with E6000. A sawtooth hanger finishes it.

9. Copper Pipe and Yarn Wall Hanging
A copper pipe and yarn wall hanging has the boho look of weaving with none of the weaving. Wrap yarn around something about 12 inches long and cut through both ends to get a pile of 24 inch pieces in three or four colors. Fold each piece in half and loop it over the copper pipe with a lark’s head knot, grouping colors into stripes. Lay it flat and trim the bottom into points or a straight edge. Thread leather string through the pipe, add a few wooden beads and hang it.

10. Forever Ever Pillow
The Forever Ever pillow is an envelope pillow cover with a hand lettered heart in iron on vinyl, and it takes less than an hour. Cut one square for the front and two rectangles for the back (20 by 20 and 20 by 16 inches for a 19 inch form). Cut the free heart file from heat transfer vinyl on a Cricut or Silhouette, weed it and press it on. Hem the back pieces, overlap them on the front right sides together and sew around the edge. Turn and stuff.
