How to Make a Gumball Machine Lady Costume

Making the Gumball Machine Top

Glue the pompoms onto your crop top and gently press them into place. You can arrange the colors however you like, just make sure that two of the same color aren’t next to each other. Continue adding pom poms until the entire front of the crop top is fully covered. TIP: Have someone wear the top while you work—it will stretch the fabric, making it easier to spot gaps and fill them in with additional pom poms.

Here’s how it should look when finished!

Making the Gumball Machine Skirt

Cut a 4×4-inch piece of felt paper. On it, write “25¢” and draw a gumball machine knob just above the number. You can also add a coin slot below the number for extra detail.

Here’s the final look of the skirt!

Adhere the label to the skirt just below the waistband. Hot glue works best for a secure hold, but you can also use tape if you want it to be temporary and avoid damaging your skirt.

Making the headdress

Make sure to choose a plain headband. If it has any embellishments, remove them and cover the headband so it’s completely bare.

Here’s what the headdress should look like

Hot glue the pom pom balls onto the headband, starting with the large ones at the top. As you move toward the narrower part of the headband (about halfway down), switch to smaller pom poms. Use the tiniest pom poms to fill in any gaps for a full, even look.

🌟 Pro Tip

If you don’t have a glue gun on hand, fabric glue will work just fine for attaching the pom pom balls. To make the top look fuller and evenly covered, have someone wear it while you fill in the gaps that appear — this way, you can adjust the placement perfectly and get a more polished finish.
