  • 1 pack of jelly roll
  • scissors

How to Make a Jelly Roll Race Quilt

Step 1:

Open the jelly roll and leave it intact the way it comes on the roll. Lay it down with all the strips stacked.

Step 2:

Get the first two strips and place the ends like in the photo below. Sew a diagonal line from corner to corner. Take the end piece from one of the sewn strips, lay it right side up, and place another one on top, right side down, just like what you did in the first two strips. Sew a diagonal from corner to corner. Repeat with the remaining strips.

Step 3:

Grab your scissors and trim the excess for each one 1/4″ away from the seams.

Step 4:

Cut about 18 inches of the strip and set it aside. Hold the ends of the strip together, place them right sides together, and sew them together on one side. You’ll have a very long strip. Find the two ends again, open them, and sew them together on one side. Keep repeating until you have 15 rows.

Step 5:

Cut it in half and you have the quilt top.
