If your beach bag is basically a black hole – sunscreen at the bottom, phone somewhere under a towel, book bent in half – and you love to sew, this beach chair caddy is for you. This is DIY JOY’s free pattern for a folding beach chair caddy that wraps right over the arm of any folding chair and puts everything within reach: a pocket sized for your sunscreen, one for your beach read, and one for your phone. Store whatever you like in those pockets!
THE PATTERN IS AT THE END OF THE PAGE

My favorite part? A hidden zipper pocket on the back that keeps your phone and keys out of the sun (and out of sight while you’re in the water). It velcros around the chair rail so it won’t slide off or blow away, and it’s all straight cuts and straight stitching — even beginners can whip this up in an afternoon. Grab two fun canvas prints, some bias binding and the free printable pattern below, and let’s get sewing! It’s a cute summer project and great to make before vacation or before a friend of yours goes on a trip. I had so much fun finding patterned fabric for this – I hope you do, too!

One seam finishes every raw edge
Pockets
- 3 front pockets with box pleats so they expand: 4″ sunscreen, 6″ paperback, 4″ phone.

- No seam allowances to track: all edges finished with bias binding in one pass
- Realistic afternoon project
