Materials:

  • blanket yarn

Directions:

Step 1

Begin by doing a slip knot. This is where you’re going to establish the length of the loops and chains. At this point, you want to go ahead and pinch through the center and pull a loop through your chain. Continue this process until you reach your desired length. You must include the first chain at the slip knot when you reach your desired length. For the first row, place the yarn in the direction you’re going to be working on. Starting from that first loop, just pull another loop through. (Make sure the loops here are similar in size to the first loops you’ve made.) From this point, go to the top of every single chain with a loop. (After this, check if you have the same amount of loops as your initial chain.) Repeat this process as you move along making the rows.

Step 2

Tip as you move along, make sure that the bars are straight on each side before you pull the loop through to avoid twisting. Another helpful tip is you can roll the blanket as you go. Now, if you run out of skeins, just take your next skein and tie it like a shoelace, making a very tight knot. Cut the excess as close as you can. For the finishing, make sure that you have two to three lengths of yarn left over because you’re going to be making your final loop slightly bigger than the rest of the loops you’ve made. After making the final row, go back to the first loop of that row and thread the second loop into the first loop. Continue this process all the way along. Once you reach the end, take the excess yarn and thread it through the final loop. You can weave it into the side if it’s long enough or for added assurance, attach a needle and thread. (This is optional. You can easily skip the needle and thread if you’re sure with your blanket.)
