How to Make a Christmas Card Using Fabric Scraps

Step 1:

Start by placing your iron-on adhesive paper with the glue side facing up and cover it completely with scraps. When you are sure there are no gaps, press according to the package instructions.

Step 2:

Get a glass and trace the circle at the back of your fabric scraps. Cut it out using your pinking shears. Slot in the scissors so you get a continuous zigzag.

Step 3:

Remove the sticker and play around with the positioning on your greeting card. Once you have decided, gently glue the back and stick it in place.

Step 4:

Check the thread tension first and get a feel for the free-motion foot. Once you are ready, place the greeting card and start with the needle down for more control. Sew all around the circle. Try not to sew straight over the first line so it doesn’t perforate the paper too much and gives an ‘ink sketched’ look. You can also fill out/correct shapes and lines with multiple passes.
