Easy Candy Churn Dash Quilt Block Tutorial

when I was just a newbie in quilting, I used to think that most quilt projects were complicated to do until I found this content creator on YouTube who makes tutorials that are simplified, detailed, and very easy to understand. One of my most recent favorites is this candy churn dash quilt block which is pretty and super easy to make.

Materials for Candy Churn Dash Quilt Block:
- Dark print fabric
- Background fabric
- Ruler
- Marking pen, pencil, or chalk
- Scissors or rotary cutter and a cutting mat
- Needle and thread
- Iron, for pressing
- Sewing machine
How to Make Candy Churn Dash Quilt Block:
Step 1
Cut each fabric into 5-inch squares and turn them into 4 half-square triangles. To make half-square triangles, lay together a dark and background square with their right sides facing, then line the wrong side of the lighter fabric diagonally from corner to corner, and stitch on each side with an ¼ inch seam allowance. Cut them apart along the line, open the fabric, and press the seams toward the darker fabric before trimming the block unit into 4.5 inches square.

Step 2
Repeat the same steps one more time to complete the 4 half-square triangles. Lay another dark and background square together with their right sides facing, then line the wrong side of the lighter fabric 2.5 inches from the bottom or half the block horizontally, and stitch on each side of the line with an ¼ inch seam allowance.
Step 3
Cut it in half along the line, then open the fabric and press the seams toward the darker fabric, you should end up with block units that are 4.5 inches tall and 5 inches wide. Now, arrange the block units together as shown in the video, stitch each block, and press the seams as you go. Cut each block into 4 pieces, then swap the pieces and rearrange them as demonstrated in the video, and start stitching them one at a time.
