Cutting:
To start, precut your fabric requirements and label them accordingly. Now, make the stair units. Take one fabric A and one fabric E, line them right sides together, and sew with a 1/4″ seam allowance. Repeat this to make four, then press them open. Next, make the second unit for the stair. Take two fabrics C and one fabric F. Sew these three together with fabric F in the middle. Make two of these, then put the units together to finish the stair unit. Make two of this block.

Now, make the step unit. Line one fabric B and one fabric G, right sides together, and sew with a 1/4″ seam allowance. Press toward the darker fabric afterward. Make two of these units. Next, line one fabric H, one fabric D, and one fabric J, right sides together, then sew with a 1/4″ seam allowance. Press away from the center afterward. Make two of these units. Now, take one fabric B and one fabric I, put them right sides together, and sew with a 1/4″ seam allowance. Make two of these units. Once done, start putting them together. (Follow the diagram found from the free pattern.) Make two of these blocks.
Now, start assembling the block. Line them up according to the free pattern, then sew them together to complete it. After this, press the seam to set it, then press in either direction.
