How to Stop Ruler From Slipping

1 – Adjust grip

Do not place your entire palm on the ruler, as it’s easy for the ruler to slip around. A better way to grip your ruler is to spread out your fingers and hook your pinky or both pink and ring fingers on the outside of your ruler. Make sure your thumb is out of the way of your rotary cutter while cutting.

2 – Use adhesive grips

There is actually a specific grip tape for quilting rulers. This is very helpful if your ruler doesn’t have a non-slip backing. Just stick a few on the back to help your ruler stay in place.

3 – Use weight

Try using hand weight or any heavy object. Just place your hand weight on the end of the ruler to help it stay in place.
