Graduation season is upon us. Instead of giving the run-of-the-mill bundle of balloons and a gift card this year, I’m planning on going all out for graduates and making this DIY illuminated frame. The best part? Most of the supplies are found at the dollar store!

Kelly from Kelly Barlow Creations came up with this frame for her daughter’s high school graduation. Using 4 dollar store frames, paint, decorative flowers/pearls, some hot glue, vellum paper, and a faux flicker candle, she makes a cheap gift that displays her daughter’s graduation announcement and photos and illuminates them from behind.

I just love how this DIY looks when it’s finished. Who knew that a grad gift this cute could be so cheap? All she does is paint the frames, hot glue them together, add her photos (she prints them on vellum paper), decorate the frames, and add her LED flicker candle. That’s it!

My best friend’s little sister is graduating college this year, and with how much she loves her grad photos, I think this will make the perfect gift.

Who are you going to make this grad gift for this year? Be sure to share this idea with your friends so they can get inspired too!

Since I lover experiments, Iโ€™ve alwaysnloved to create, paint, as well as cook and style food. I feel in love with DIY as soon as I discovered it and could not have been more excited when I learned I could share projects with people around the world. Taking photos is a passion of mine, as is design and painting with oils. I love holidays and celebrations, crafting cute little gifts and serving up at least one new recipe I am excited about.
