You will need 3 blocks for this quilt – a plain square, a half-square triangle, and a “leg” block. The “leg” block usually was made using a pattern, but for this quilt, you don’t need one. It is super easy to make, no need to spend a lot of time perfecting it. If you are looking for an easy-to-make and beginner-friendly quilt project that will still impress everyone, this rose garden pattern is definitely it. Plus, it is perfect for this season! Make half-square triangles. Cut 5 1/2″ squares from your blue and white fabric. Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on the 5 1/2″ white fabric square and place it on top of the blue square. Sew on either side of the line. Cut directly on the line. Trim the half-square triangle into 5″ squares. Set the seam and press each open.
Make the other block. Cut 5″ white squares from your white fabric. You need 16 of this. Next, cut 3″ x 6″ blue strips. Fold one 5″ square in half just to make a crease, then open. Place one blue strip diagonally, just like in the photo below, then sew it in place. Set and open it. Do the same for the other side. Trim the excess with the 5″ square as the guide. Repeat with the others.
Arrange the squares and blocks just like in the photo below.
