Did you know that a study was done that exhibited 40 percent of the food we buy gets thrown away? This is such a terrible statistic, but I was so excited to find this wonderful video by Bright Side, on YouTube, that explained how to make food last longer and avoid this unnecessary waste. I learned so much from his video it is hard to explain it all. One interesting thing I learned is the fact that tomatoes should be bought in small quantities because they ripen so quickly, and if you put them in the refrigerator, they will lose their lovely texture and flavor really quickly. Also, if you put your tomatoes beside other vegetables, especially fruit, it can ripen them way quicker than they would normally take.  Here are a few of the wonderful tips in this excellent video tutorial that you may find very valuable.

Tip Number One:

Never store potatoes in the refrigerator, they need a well well ventilated dark and dry place with some room between each potato.

Also, I learned how to store herbs. Never put them in water or keep them in a plastic bag they will wilt and get gummy. You want to store them in a dry paper bag, so the bag will keep them moisture free for days.
