Materials:

  • 1 & 1/2 yards of cotton print (standard 44/45 WOF)
  • 1 & 1/4 yard of Minky fabric
  • pins
  • scissors
  • sewing machine
  • coordinating thread

Directions:

Step 1

Pre-wash your cotton fabric, then iron it. Next, lay everything out. (If your fabric was not cut straight or you’re using existing fabric, make sure your edges are straight.) Put your right sides together and smooth it all around. Now, cut the minky to the size of the cotton fabric. Pin around to secure it in place. Take it to your sewing machine and sew it all the way around with a 5/8″ seam allowance. (Make sure to backstitch first.) Leave about a 6″ gap.

Step 2

After sewing, trim your corners, leaving about a 1/8 space between your corner and where you’re trimming, then trim all the way around. Now, pull the blanket right side out through the gap. Stick your hand in the blanket and pop all the corners out nicely. After this, pin the gap closed and sew all the way around using a 1/4″ seam allowance.
