A great way to save money in the kitchen is by swapping your plastic wraps with washable fabric bowl covers. You can reuse it as much as you like, plus it looks absolutely adorable. It is very easy to make and you can even use scrap or old fabrics, as long as it’s big enough to cover your bowls. You also don’t need to become an expert in sewing because it’s so easy that it can be a good practice even for beginners. Materials:

  • Rotary cutter or scissors
  • Fabric
  • Sewing machine
  • Bowl
  • Marking pen
  • Elastic band

Directions:

Step 1

Lay your fabric on a flat surface or your working area, then place the bowl upside down on the fabric, and trace around to get its measurement. Next, add 2 inches around the round marking, then cut around the excess. Sew the seam edges of the fabric using a zigzag stitch.

Step 2

Attach the elastic band on the wrong side of the fabric, in between the original measurement and the allowance, then sew around with a zigzag stitch, make sure to pull the elastic band as you sew, then cut away the excess fabric. But, if you’re using a lace elastic band, then you can sew it along the seam edges.
