In this step by step tutorial, Whack A Mole Industries will demonstrate how to make this DIY waterproofing solution. I’ve tried a lot of recipes but this one is so effective and works like magic. So, if you’re looking for a solution to make your tent canvas waterproof, you gotta try this DIY solution–you won’t regret it, trust me. Learn how to make it by watching the video tutorial below, or continue reading down for the complete written instructions.

You’ll Need:

  • odorless mineral spirits
  • 100% silicon clear caulk
  • 10 oz 9 x 12 ft canvas
  • mixing bottle
  • mixing stick/rod
  • hard plastic

Directions:

Step 1

To start, cut off the top of the caulk and pump some inside the mixing bottle. (Cap off the caulk using a nail once done.) Next, take the mineral spirits and pour some inside (cover the surface with cardboard for any spillage.) Put the cap on and shake the bottle well. If it’s looking a little too thin, add more caulk, and continue to shake until you have a syrup consistency.

Step 2

Now, apply the mixture at least halfway up the canvas and use the hard plastic to spread it nicely around. Continue this until you cover the whole canvas. You can use this to waterproof bags, shoes, etc. Just make sure that you test it out first in a small area to determine if the color won’t fade.
