Dog beds are kind of expensive and the quality sometimes are not that impressive, so instead of buying them from the store, just build one on your own using a few pieces of lumber, and surely it will last for a long time. This amazing idea is all thanks to Les on YouTube, my dog absolutely loved his bed, and I’m sure your dog will love it, too!

Materials:

  • Two 2×4 lumber @ 32 inches
  • Three 2×4 lumber @ 25 inches
  • Four 2×4 lumber @ 10 inches high
  • 1×6 panels
  • Screws
  • Drill and drill bits
  • Sanding machine or sandpaper
  • Wood stain

Directions:

Step 1

First off, cut the pieces of lumber that you’ll need. Next, assemble the pieces of lumber for the base and create a frame as shown in the video, then adhere them together with gorilla glue, and clamp them together to secure them in place. Leave them for about 30 minutes until the glue has completely dried and the lumbers are adhered together, then secure them by attaching screws, and then drill pocket holes in the middle part of the base.

Step 2

Attach screws in the pocket holes you’ve drilled, then place the legs on each inner corner, and attach screws on all four sides about 10 inches from the base. Now, place the 1×6 panels on top of the base, then attach screws to secure them in place, and apply gorilla glue around 3 sides of the bed except the front part. Adhere the barrier panels, then keep them in place, and attach them together with screws. Sand the dog bed, then stain it if you want, and once dried, place a cushion for your dog.
