Instructions

Step 1:

Fabric A

Cut 1 piece of 2 1/2″ square from 5 jelly roll strips and cut 6 pieces of 2 1/2″ by 6 1/2″ strips from each jelly roll.

Fabric B

Cut 13 pieces of 2 1/2″ by WOF strips

Fabric C

Cut 7 pieces of 5 by WOF strips

Step 2:

From fabric A, get a 2 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ rectangle and sew a 2 1/2″ square to the side. Keep sewing strips on alternate sides, matching the top edge of the one side of the new strip with the shorter side of the strip you just sewed on until you have finished 48 strips. Make a total of 5 strip units.

Step 3:

Using a ruler, trim the corners off by lining your ruler along the exterior points. Each one should measure 6 1/2″ wide x 66″ long.

Step 4:

Add the sashing. Get 10 strips of fabric B and sew trim end to end. Trim six units that are 66″ long, then sew them between each braid unit with a 1/4″ seam allowance.

Step 5:

Make the inner border. Get the remaining 3 strips of fabric b and sew them end to end. Cut the 2 units that fit across the top and bottom of your quilt.

Step 6:

Make the outer border. Get 7 strips of fabric C and sew them end to end. Measure your quilt top sides and cut 2 units in that measurement. Sew them to each side of your quilt top. Repeat the process for the top and bottom.
