When looking for new quilt projects to try, I always opt for easy and simple patterns that require only a few fabrics but can form different styles and patterns when put together. I have tried a lot of patterns before and I have a few favorites, and one of them is this wonky zigzag quilt by Teresa DownUnder on YouTube.

What I loved about this quilt is how quick and effortless it is to make which is great for beginners and newbie quilters, but if you’re someone who’s looking for a pattern that leaves minimal to no leftovers at all, then this is also perfect for you! Basically, what you need to piece this quilt is a set of similar colored but different prints of fabric, some basic sewing supplies, and this video tutorial.
Step 1
For one block, cut 1 square at 4½ inches and 1 strip at 2⅓-3 x 5½ inches, then place the strip on top of the background fabric with their right sides facing and at an angle, and then pin them in place.
Step 2
Stitch them with ¼ inch seam allowance, then trim off the excess fabric, open it up, and press nice and flat. Square the block into 4½ inches, then repeat the same steps with the remaining fabric.
Step 3
Once done, assemble the block units together however you want, then stitch them to each other one at a time, and press the seams as you go.
