Materials:

  • Tweezers
  • Small piece of drinking straw
  • Scissors
  • Bobbin

Directions:

Trick #1: Use Tweezers to Turn Fabric Corners in Nicely

If your fabric piece is squared, then what you need to do first is to pinch the seam allowance using your tweezers, and turn it over inward. Next, pinch the turned seam allowance of the fabric piece itself together, then push them forward as you pull the edges of the fabric, and poke the corners nicely.

Trick #2: Make Ruffles Nicely Using Tweezers and a Bobbin

First, insert the bobbin in between the prongs of the tweezers to widen its gap, then place the fabric strip into your machine, and use the tweezers to push the fabric all the way as you sew. This method can help push the fabric further at the back of the needle without risking your finger.

Trick #3: Insert Lace Through Shorts or String Bags

Cut a small piece of straw, then pinch one end of the lace with the tweezers, and insert the plastic straw piece through the handle’s tip all the way through to lock the tweezers in place. Now, insert the tweezers along with the lace all the way through the other end of the waistband or the string bag hole. You can also skip the straw and just lay the lace over and between the tweezers’ prongs, then pull it so it is sitting tightly, and proceed to insert the lace as usual. Another simple trick that you can do with your tweezers is to insert the thread through the eye of the needle.
