A few weeks ago, we started cleaning and preparing our yard for the gatherings and cookouts that our family plans to host, and all that’s missing is beautiful lighting to set up the mood. I browsed an online shop for a couple of lighting that I could purchase and use to hang in the yard, and the one that stood out to me the most was a light bulb-shaped stringlight.

But I still wanted to take them to the next level, so I decided to make a DIY lampshade with different colors and used this project idea by Recycle Craft as an inspiration. Instead of using large plastic bottles, I used small ones that could fit and hold the light bulbs in place, and I also used different colors of rope to make them fun and colorful. Learn how now by watching the video tutorial below.
Step 1
Cut the top of the neck of the bottle to even out the edges, then hot glue the end of the rope at the very edge of the opening, and start twisting and wrapping the bottle with rope making sure to dab hot glue as you go.
Step 2
Continue wrapping the rope until you reach past the shoulder where the label’s edge usually is or until the height is enough to cover the light bulb, and then apply the Mod Podge all over the rope until fully coated.
Step 3
Set it aside to dry completely, then carefully twist the rope shade off of the bottle, and insert the small opening of the shade into the socket of the lamp extension.
Step 4
Put the light bulb inside the shade, then twist it tightly until secured, and hang the lampshade anywhere you want. Plug it in and switch the light on.
