Materials:

  • Exterior fabric
  • Lining fabric
  • Heavy-weight fusible interfacing
  • Clips
  • Scissors
  • Marking pen
  • Paper
  • Sewing machine
  • Iron, for pressing

Directions:

Step 1

Draw your pattern on a paper with a size of about 2 by 4 inches, it could be a simple shape or an intricate one, you can draw whatever you like. Cut the pattern out, then place it on top of your exterior fabric, and trace the shape. Trim the fabric, then do the same process with the lining and interfacing fabric (make 2 pieces, 1 interfacing per fabric). Press each of the interfacing fabrics to the exterior and lining fabric. Draw a stitching line of about ¼” from the seam in the interfacing side of each fabric making sure to follow the shape of the fabric itself.

Step 2

Mark about 1.25 inches of a gap at one side of the fabric for the opening later, and lay the main and lining together right sides facing, then sew them together according to the stitching line leaving a gap at the side. Fold the excess seams in, roll it until flat, then trim it out a little bit before notching all around. Turn it right side out, then poke the corners nicely, and give it a good press. Topstitch around the fabric and near the edges, then fold the fabric in half lengthwise and mark the midpoint. Measure about ¼” down from the seam for the buttons, do the same at the bottom, then attach the snap button.
