Whether you’re throwing a very small get together this year for the holidays or it is just you and yours, this crockpot dip may be a favorite new recipe. I must admit I think this makes a fine no fuss dinner for those of you who love cheese and bacon as much as I do. There are only good things to say about this particular dip recipe I just discovered on Youtube from Real Housemoms, where I also found quite a few other recipes I can’t wait to make. I tried it out last weekend- yummy, easy, quick and delicious. Pretty creative, too, if you ask me. I’ve made tater tot casserole in my crockpot and lots of other easy recipes with ground meat, but this one is super flavorful and covered in cheese, a new favorite, for sure.
Over medium heat, preheat a skillet.
When the pan is hot, add the ground beef to brown it, using a spatula to break it up while it is cooking.
Season the beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder and Worcestershire sauce.
When beef is cooked, remove from skillet and drain, set aside.
Cook the bacon until crispy. Allow to cool for a few minutes, then dice the bacon.
Drain the bacon grease from the pan, but leave about a tablespoon for the next step.
Add the onion and stir, cook them for 1-2 minutes until translucent.
Add the garlic to the pan, stirring constantly so that it doesn’t burn. Cook for 1 minute, then remove from pan and set aside.
In a mixing bowl, stir the cream cheese and sour cream until blended, no lumps should remain.
Stir in the ketchup, mustard, and can of diced tomatoes.
Add the ground meat mixture, bacon, onion and garlic to the crockpot.
Then, add the cream cheese mixture over the ground beef mixture.
Add all of the mozzarella cheese and 1 cup of the cheddar cheese, then stir.
sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese to the top of the mixture and cover.
Cook on low for 2 to 3 hours until warmed through and bubbly. Serve with sliced french bread![social_warfare]
