I needed a Fall decoration for my daughter’s Thanksgiving school party and I only had thirty minutes to come up with something. I decided on this super simple leaf display with a handwritten message. I used leaves, and string to create this festive Thanksgiving table decoration. I was out the door ahead of schedule and my daughter’s teacher was thrilled.
I wanted a break from the traditional circular wreath this Fall season and found this stunning cluster of pine cones attached to ribbon. My Mother in law had brought me two buckets of pine cones and I had some lovely velvet ribbon left over from last Christmas. Using my hot glue gun, I did simple attachments and a big opulent bow at the top. I made the entire family happy and it only took me thirty minutes.
My kids love my handwriting so what better way to send them loving messages than simple chalkboard statements. I repurposed some old cabinet doors adding chalkboard at the center of the frames and drilled some holes for hanging and I can keep everyone in this house posted on what’s for dinner to household chores. You can add garland around the cabinet frame to suit any season. I added a rustic branch, leaf and berry garland for my rustic Fall display but Christmas lights look great also. The repurposed cabinet door chalkboards are perfect year round.
Give you Autumn decor the homespun touch. Nothing is cuter than an acorn pattern personal pillow. I couldn’t contain my excitement when I saw these acorn pillowcases. What a gorgeous way to say I love you to all the members of your family. When we have our hot cider apple juice on a brisk Autumn evening, everyone gets their own personal pillow. Make this Thanksgiving special in the most personal way for your loved ones.
If you live in a hot arid climate, nothing gets people in the mood for Fall than a happy Fall sign and some spice candles. I repurposed an old picture frame I got at a local junk shop to make my Autumn sign display. I revamped the old frame I used the plank door to stencil my Fall message over a lovely hand stretched burlap, then stenciled my Thanksgiving message and created my own little Autumn still life to get my family really in the mood for the holidays.
