Materials:

  • 2 – 18 & 1/2″ x 12 & 5/8″ fabrics (inner and outer color)
  • 2 – 10″ x 1″ strips (for the tote handle)
  • clips
  • scissors
  • ruler
  • marker
  • plastic snap buttons
  • sewing machine

Directions:

Step 1

Lay out your outer fabric, right side up, and clip the two handles on both sides with a 2 & 3/4″ allowance on each side of the handle. Stitch them. Next, lay on top, wrong side up, the inner fabric. Stitch on both sides with 3/8″ seam allowance. After this, put the two seams together, and draw a line on each side with a 2 & 3/8″ allowance from the edge. Draw the same on the other side, then fold it, putting the drawn lines together on both sides. Clip them to secure and stitch on top and bottom edges with a 3/8″ seam allowance (leave a gap).

Step 2

Once done sewing, turn your project inside out through the gap, then sew it close. Push the inner fabric inside the bag and stitch the top close to the edge. After this, attach a plastic snap button on the tote bag to finish it.
