Everyone has plastic grocery bags from the store, and most likely it’s shoved in a drawer or thrown away. There are ways to recycle plastic bags and Simp Decor on YouTube gives a tutorial on how to. These plastic flowers look amazing, and it’s simple. I would have no idea that these plastic flowers were made out of plastic bags since they look so good.  Not a lot of supplies are required for this DIY craft and it’s inexpensive. Keep in mind the next time you go to the store, save your plastic bags so you can create plastic flowers to put on your countertop or room. This also a great gift to make for someone, and I can think of many ways to transform these flowers into a bigger project. For example, you can take these flowers and create a wreath for your door.

Supplies:

  • plastic bags
  • bottle cap (Gatorade size)
  • scotch tape
  • masking tape
  • thread
  • pliers
  • scissors
  • craft wire

Instructions:

First, follow the tutorial step-by-step from Simp Decor on YouTube. You want to take your bottle cap and craft wire to create the circular oval shape for the flower petals. Once you have your wire shape, take your plastic bag and cover over the wire and start twisting. Use the thread to hold the shape together. Repeat this process until you have 5 flower petals.

Next, when you have your 5 flower petals, attach all 5 together using the thread and create a flower. You want to make sure you use green masking tape around the metal wire for the stem.

This tutorial is cool to watch and I love how innovative this craft is. Plastic bags are easy to be thrown away, but why not reuse them for a craft that is so pretty!
