DIY Home Slippers Using Old Towels Tutorial

Are you looking for ways to recycle your old towels at home? Transform them into this pair of comfy slippers from Miarti – Sewing Tips on YouTube! This project is one of my favorite DIY so far, and I can’t count how many pairs of slippers I’ve made using this tutorial. It’s the perfect way to recycle your old towels and gift them to your loved ones. Watch the video tutorial below to learn the step by step instructions.

Materials:

• a pair of slippers
• old towel
• scissors
• faux leather fabric
• pins
• paper
• pen
• polyester wadding

Directions:

Step 1

To start, remove the straps of your rubber slippers, trace the base to your folded towel, then cut the shape, with 1 1/2 cm extra on the edges. Next, pin the towel on a faux leather fabric and cut. Set them aside. Using a large piece of paper, trace the cover of the slipper on your foot with a pen. Cut it, trace it on the towel, and cut four pieces. Now, trace both cover and sole templates on the polyester wadding, and sew them. For the cover, sew the pieces first on the straight edges, flip them inside out, insert the wadding, and sew them together.

Step 2

Now, clip the cover over the sole and sew it. Repeat this with the other pair. Once done, measure the rubber slipper and cut a towel strip according to how big it is. Sew this strip along the edges of the leather template. After this, flip the towel slipper, pin it along the edges of the towel strip, then sew them together, leaving a large enough gap. Once done, flip the towel slipper inside out. Once done, insert the rubber slipper inside and sew the gap close. Repeat this with the other pair of slippers.
