Spring is salad season – that is why I love this time of the year so much. I enjoy making them at home and packing them for a picnic so I can eat them in the park while it’s sunny outside. Most of the salads I have tried are always good. I never had one that I didn’t like. One of my favorites is this easy creamy apple slaw recipe by Spend With Pennies. It is super easy to make, and the homemade dressing is amazing. This salad only has cabbage, apples, and shredded carrots, but because of the sauce – it becomes this delicious snack or a side dish. Homemade Creamy Apple Slaw Ingredients

  • 4 cups of shredded cabbage (about a quarter of a cabbage)
  • 2 Granny Smith apples (julienned)
  • 1 cup of shredded carrots

For the dressing:

  • 1/2 cup of mayo
  • 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon of white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of grainy mustard
  • seasoned salt
  • celery seed
  • black pepper

How to Make Creamy Apple Slaw

Step 1:

Start by preparing the apples, carrots, and cabbage. You can use a mandoline to make the cutting easier. Once everything is cut, add them to a bowl.

Step 2:

Make the dressing. In a medium sized bowl, add 1/2 cup of mayo, 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, 1 tablespoon of grainy mustard, seasoned salt, celery seed, and black pepper. Whisk until well combined.

Step 3:

Pour the dressing over the prepared fruits and vegetables. Toss until everything is well coated. The vinegar will help keep the apples from turning brown. Set aside for an hour to allow the dressing to incorporate well. Serve and enjoy!
