We make it several times a week, either for breakfast or a snack, and it never fails to impress everyone. It is packed with proteins and low in carbs, so it is definitely good for you. This is also a great meal option if you are trying to lose weight or on a keto diet.

But what I love most about this chicken salad is that it is packed with meat, vegetables, fruits, and nuts, so you have everything in just one meal! The homemade dressing is also flavorful and low in fat. What more can you ask for?

You can enjoy it as is or serve it with any bread you like to make a creamy chicken sandwich.

Healthy Chicken Salad Ingredients

For the chicken:

  • 3 chicken breasts (skinless)
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons of oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of paprika
  • 1 teaspoon of dried oregano

For the salad:

  • 2 to 3 celery stalks (chopped)
  • 1/2 green apple (chopped)
  • 3 green onions (chopped)
  • 1/4 red onion (chopped)
  • 2 tablespoons of parsley (chopped)
  • 4 to 5 leaves of lettuce (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup of almonds (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup of dried cranberries or raisins


  • 4 tablespoons of mayonnaise (low fat)
  • 1 tablespoon of greek yogurt (low fat)
  • 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
  • salt and pepper to taste


How to Make Chicken Salad At Home

Step 1:

In a mixing bowl, combine oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, oregano, and paprika. Mix until well combined. Place the chicken in the bowl and mix until fully seasoned. You can cook it right away but you can also let it marinate for an hour if you have time.

Step 2:

Place a large pan or skillet over medium heat, then add the oil. Once hot, add the marinated chicken and cook for 4 to 5 minutes on each side, or until cooked through. Transfer to a plate and set aside to cool. Prepare the vegetables.

Step 3:

In a large bowl, add the celery, apple, cranberries, green onion, red onion, parsley, almonds, and lettuce.

Step 4:

Slice the chicken breast into small pieces then add to the salad.

Step 5:

Make the dressing by adding all the ingredients in a small bowl and mixing until well combined.

Step 6:

Pour the dressing over the salad and toss to combine. Serve and enjoy!
