Need some yard decor ideas for Halloween? This idea uses some inexpensive things to make ghosts that look pretty spooky, in my opinion. Use packing tape and trash bags over a mannequin form to get this look. Then remove and add string lights in the color of your choice to the inside of the ghost. I really like the blue one, but any color of lights should work nicely. Learn how with this step by step video tutorial or visit Crazy Green Thumbs for a step by step tutorial with photos. A family of ghosts can be yours with some packing tape, trash bags and string lights.

The tutorial by Crazy Green Thumbs is really great and she attempted to make this after seeing a popular pin on Pinterest, one that had terrible instructions. She tells you why you do not want to use a real person instead of buying a dress form and then suggests buying a plastic dress form online or picking up a decorative one from the craft store and using a half off coupon to buy it. Both great suggestions.

This video tutorial also shows you how to make packing tape ghosts, with some awesome visuals to look at. These ghost children on the roof give me the creeps and I’ve not even seen them in person. Watch to see how she makes her ghosts.

My takeaway from this is

1) I must have some of the ghosts for my front yard this week

2) They all turn out differently but look great in their imperfection

3) I need to buy lots of clear tape.

When it comes to Halloween decor, I think DIY is always the way to go, since I’ve not seen anything like this for sale in stores. See what you think.
