It’s a very clever and interesting way to use a pumpkin, and I’d say this is also a better option than just turning them into jack-o’-lanterns which are purely for decoration.

Materials for DIY Pumpkin Kegs:

• 1 large pumpkin
• Marker or pencil
• Carving kit
• Plastic or metal spigot

How to Make a Pumpkin Keg:

Step 1

Draw a ring around the top of the pumpkin, this will be the lid, then carefully carve it out, and remove the lid making sure to rid any stringy parts or seeds. Next, clean the insides of the pumpkin and remove all of the stringy parts and seeds, then mark where you want to put the spigot, and carve out or drill a hole.

Step 2

Make sure to clean the hole, then insert the spigot, and secure it nicely on the inside. You can also add more decorations to your pumpkin keg for your Halloween or Fall party, then fill it with pumpkin ale, harvest beer, or apple cider iced tea, and close it with the pumpkin lid.
