  • one fat quarter bundle (25 pieces)

Note: you can make it in solids or regular printed fabric

How To Make Broken Bars Quilt

Step 1:

Get four pieces of fat quarters. Unfold them and fold them in half lengthwise. Straighten the edge. Cut into 10-inch strips. Repeat with the other fat quarters.

Step 2:

Open the strip sets and stack four pieces. Cut them into 1/2″, 2″, 2 1/2″, 3″ strips. Set aside. Repeat with the remaining strips.

Step 3:

Get several strips in different colors and sizes. Start by sewing two pieces together in different colors and sizes on the long side with a 1/4″ seam allowance. Press it open. Take another one in a different color and size, and sew again.

Decide how long you want your strip set to be. For example, you decide to make it 22″ long. All of the strip sets should be the same length. If one strip is too long, cut the excess. Just make sure to sew them in different colors/prints and sizes.

Step 4:

Sew 7 sections together, then sew 4 units to make the quilt. Quilt, bind, and have fun sewing.
