When I need a new quilt project to try, I always run to my favorite YouTube quilters, and one of those is Teresa DownUnder on YouTube. She has always produced incredibly beautiful and simple quilt ideas that are perfect for both beginners and experts, which is also why I know she won’t disappoint.

This time, she’s making a doubly striped half-square triangles quilt block also known as the hidden wells quilt block, and she used jelly roll strips which made everything even better. You can use any combination of fabric prints and colors that you want with this project, too.
Step 1
Pick 4 strips of your choice, then cut them each into 2½ x 18 inches, and stitch them together into a strip unit.
Step 2
Press them nicely, then measure the height, in the video, the strip units measured 8¼, and cut into 8¼ inch squares.
Step 3
Get 2 squares, then lay them on top of each other with their edges lined up and right sides facing, make sure that the strips are in the opposite direction, and pin them in place.
Step 4
Stitch them around all sides with ¼ inch seam allowance, then cut them diagonally in both directions and trim off the corners.
Step 5
Press the seams open, then assemble the blocks as shown in the video, then stitch them in pairs and then the pairs to each other, and press the seams as you go.
