Easy 5-Minute Wine Glass Coaster Sewing Tutorial

Since there are a lot of parties and celebrations that I’m planning to host for the whole year, I’ve been preparing a few decorations and items that I might need a little at a time, this way I can tackle everything without feeling overwhelmed. One of the projects that I did recently is a wine glass coaster that can also serve as a way for the guests to remember which wine glass belongs to whom.

It’s a super easy DIY project that can be done in as fast as 5 minutes and even beginners can make it perfectly on their first try. You can use any color or print of fabric that you want and design as you like. Materials for DIY Wine Glass Coaster:
- Cotton quilting fabric, any color that you want
- Cotton batting/ fusible interfacing/ fusible fleece
- Ruler
- Marking pen, pencil, or chalk
- Scissors or rotary cutter and a cutting mat
- Needle and thread
- Fabric pins
- Iron, for pressing
- Sewing machine
How to Sew a Wine Glass Coaster:
Step 1
Cut a cotton fabric into a 7-inch square, then 3 squares at 5 inches, and 1 cotton batting at 5 inches. Take 2 5-inch squares, then fold them in half diagonally with their wrong sides facing and edges lined up, and press them down nicely.
Step 2
Take the 7-inch square and lay it on your work surface flatly with its wrong side up, then draw a 1-inch line on all sides, and set it aside. Place the remaining 5-inch square on top of the batting lining up their edges nicely, then place them on top of the 7-inch square, and make sure to position them inside of the lines.
Step 3
Pin them on each side, then fold in 2 opposite edges of the 7-inch square layer in about ½ inch, and press it nicely. Fold it over the top of the layers, then press again, and pin it in place, Stitch on the edges from point to point, then repeat the same steps for the other opposite edges, and you’re done!
