Making this placemat is super easy and simple which makes it perfect for beginners, this video tutorial also comes with a free pattern, so check it out now, and give this project a try today. I’m sure you’ll love this quilted placemat as much as I did, enjoy!
Step 1
Download and print the egg template, then cut them out, and piece them together. Cut the fabric strips, then lay them out alternately in a row, and sew them one at a time with a ¼-inch seam allowance. Press the seams toward one color, then cut the edges to square up the strip set, and then sub-cut it into strips.
Step 2
Rearrange the strips alternately so that they’re forming a grid, then sew them together with a ¼-inch seam allowance, and set the piece aside. Lay the backing with its right side down, then place the backing fabric over it, and the place mat top above it making sure its right side is facing up.
Step 3
Mark diagonally through all the lighter squares using a Hera marker tool as shown in the video, then stitch over those crease lines, and place the egg template on top. Trace around the shape of the egg, then cut along the drawn line, and bind the edges.
