Easy Cuddle Bear Sewing Tutorial

A few weeks ago, I heard some of the best news ever, one of my close friends is having a baby, and we all got excited about it, especially me! When I went home that day, I thought of all the possible gifts that I could give the baby, and I wanted something that I made because I felt like they were more personal and sweet that way.

Out of all the ideas and inspirations that I found online, the one that stood out to me the most is this adorable cuddle bear that a baby can use for quite a long time while they’re growing up. Materials for DIY Cuddle Bear:
- ½ yard of cuddle fabric
- Fabric scrap, for the eyes and nose
- Interfacing fabric
- Sew-in interfacing
- Needle and matching thread
- Ruler
- Marking pen, pencil, or chalk
- Scissors or rotary cutter and a cutting mat
- Poly-fil fiberfill
- Iron, for pressing
- Sewing machine

How to Make a DIY Cuddle Bear:
Step 1
Print the pattern, then lay the fabric together as instructed in the video, and mark it so you know where the top is, make sure the layers’ wrong sides are facing. Cut off the selvage, then cut the layers together into a square at 9.5 inches, and set them aside. Cut a piece of interfacing, then trace the shape of the eyes and nose to it, lay the interfacing on top of the scrap fabric, and pin them in place.
Step 2
Stitch around the lines, then cut them out with a small allowance around the edges, snip the center of the paper, and turn the fabric right side out poking the edges nicely. Iron them flatly, then get one of the square fabrics, fold it in half to find the midpoint, and place the eyes pinning them securely.
Step 3
Stitch the edges of the eyes and do the same process to the nose, then flip the piece over to its backside, draw the mouth underneath the nose, and embroider it as shown in the video. Now, proceed to make the ears, arms, and legs, then finish making and stuffing the body, and connect the arms, legs, and ears to the body.
