If you’re a beginner in quilting, you’ll surely like this stack n whack quilt from LessonsLearnt on Youtube. When I’m just starting out in quilting, this pattern is one of my favorites as it’s so easy and so fun to make. It’s also not complicated and has a pretty straightforward pattern. If you have a stash of layer cakes you’re saving up, this quilt might be the perfect project to bring your stash to life. Try making this quilt today! Watch the video tutorial below to learn the step by step instructions.
To start, take several layers of fabric in the same size (or the layer cake pieces) and cut it all throughout the entire stack. Repeat this until you’ve cut all 42 pieces of layer cake pieces. Now, sew the pieces together. Get one of each of the pieces, put them right sides together, then sew. (Make sure the pattern of the fabric is not the same.)

Repeat this, sewing random pieces together, to create a completely new 10″ block. (It’s important that there won’t be any repeats of the fabric pattern to make them unique from each other.) Once you have all your pieces sewn together, set the seams first, then press towards the larger portion of the block. Now, lay them out how you like to create the quilt top.
