How to Sew a Heart Table Runner From 10″ Squares

After a busy or stressful day, my way to relax is by finishing or trying out new quilts, and probably one of my favorite projects is those that use fabric scraps or have minimal scrap leftover by the end of the project. Recently, I found this quilt idea by SewVeryEasy on YouTube, and I have never felt so happy with a table runner as I did when I finished making this fun quilt! Materials:
- Red fabric, for the heart
- Cream fabric, for the background
- Marking pen or pencil
- Scissors or rotary cutter and a cutting mat
- Needle and thread
- Iron, for pressing
- Sewing machine
- Pattern (Click here to download and print the pattern)
Directions:
Step 1
Cut the fabric pieces that are required in the template and line the wrong side of the white fabric diagonally from corner to corner. Place the 2 small squares on the lower corner of the red triangles with their right side facing each other, then place the larger white fabric at the top as shown in the video, and sew them together along the marked lines. Trim the excess fabric leaving only about ¼ inch of seam allowance from the stitching line, then press them open, and repeat making another piece.

Step 2
Lay the two pieces together with their right sides facing, then sew them together, and press them open. Place the small red squares on each side of the bottom of the block, then sew them diagonally from corner to corner, trim the excess fabric, and press open. The heart block is complete and you can now try making other blocks using different red fabrics, then sew the blocks together, and finish your quilt however you want.
