Well, think no more. We found some of the best DIY presents to give as a housewarming present, and most are super easy and quick to make. Check out the easy to follow step by step tutorials and you will have a cool gift in hand in no time. Not just for housewarming parties, either. Some of these ideas make perfect last minute Christmas ideas, too. A simple DIY housewarming gift is so awesome to help new homeowners (or renters) break in a new home, housewarming gifts can range from something as simple as a candle, or as elaborate as an appliance. More than likely, if you’re preparing a housewarming gift, you’re hoping to put a smile on your friends’ or new neighbors’ faces — and make a meaningful impression as they embark on a new chapter of their life together! I think it’s important to remember that your gift needn’t be expensive to make an impact. When packaging up a gift, the most important thing is that you show you put thought and effort into curating something they’ll love. If they are close friends of yours, you probably already have something in mind, but if you have yet to meet your new neighbors, you’ll want to give them something that shows them you’re the kind of neighbor who will always loan a cup of sugar! To start, pick a theme for your gift. Something like food, cleaning supplies, household items, laundry supplies, garden tools, etc. Then head to the store to pick out a few items. As I said, you don’t have to get fancy to make an impact! Follow this formula: something useful or necessary, (think hammer, laundry detergent), something pretty, (candle, potted plant, hardware accessories), and something DIY homemade, I like including a handmade item to show that extra thought was put into the gift!
Have friends that are moving? Here is a little DIY gift that is easy to put together and is so thoughtful. All you need is a printout and a paint pen to trace it on the jar. Then just stop by a hardware store to stock up the jar and you’ve got a present.
Since this is my sister’s first home, I knew some things that she would need right off the bat, items that she would totally forget to buy beforehand like cleaning supplies. The first items on my list were dish soap, trash bags, disinfecting wipes, microfiber cloths (HUGE fan!), dishwasher detergent, a dish brush, Doterra air freshener, magic erasers, bathroom cleaner, multi-surface cleaner, carpet cleaner, Pledge multi-surface cleaner, A toolset (I don’t want her borrowing my stuff all the time!), a screw assortment, Command Brand products, a first aid kit (she’s a mom of 2 boys under 2 so this was a must!). then I put all this in a cute, reusable tote bag and made the best DIY housewarming present ever!
Oh, DIY gift baskets make sensational housewarming gifts and let me tell you, to this Southern girl, there is absolutely nothing sweeter than throwing a few of my favorite things into a basket and giving my dear friends a gift. So lately, as the Austin real estate market booms and my friends keep growing their family, I have found myself putting together quite a few of these DIY Housewarming Gift Baskets. They are absolutely precious, fairly simple to make, and here’s the thing I love most about them…it is goodies that my friends will actually use! As in, pass the bottle opener, open immediately, and use RIGHT AWAY!!

We I moved into a new house in September and one thing I’m still struggling with is the smell. An older gentleman lived there for quite a while and the home itself was built in the early ’80s, so there is a lingering “musk” I’m working to rid the home of. I’ve tried charcoal air purifying bags to help rid the room of the scent and I think they’re working because the musk is going down a bit, but there’s still that old house smell I’m working on updating with a fresher, cleaner scent. And sure, I could run to the nearest Bath and Body Works and plug an artificial scent into every outlet in my home, but that really doesn’t do much for me. I like my house to just have a natural, clean and uplifting scent. So today I saw this recipe for DIY air freshener and it was super easy and cheap to make. I used three simple ingredients to make my own DIY Air Freshener and how you can bottle it up and gift it as a gift for other new homeowners, as well! So if you’ve been searching for that unique housewarming gift idea, this one is a real winner!
Since wedding season is upon us I put together a DIY gift idea and tag that is perfect for a bridal shower or as a wedding present. Wish the new couple “Nothing Bundt Love and Joy!” This gift requires a bundt cake pan, but after that, it is up to you what you want to put in. I used some dishtowels, dishcloths, measuring cups, kitchen utensils, and a cute mason jar. You could also put in a boxed cake mix and frosting, spices like vanilla or cinnamon, toothpicks, and cupcake liners, etc. Anything “baking” will totally fit!
We have several friends that have recently purchased new homes, so I love welcoming them with a few simple items they can enjoy. I have several DIY housewarming gift ideas, but generally, create gifts on a whim when I’m strolling through a store. This was one of my spur of the moment creations using a rustic basket, lavender soap, a lavender plant, and flour sack towels individually wrapped in twine.
This DIY gift idea is PERFECT for anybody and any occasion. Even people who don’t know how to cook or bake seem to LOVE kitchen goodies! This would work as a Thank You gift, Housewarming, Birthday, Christmas present or whatever! Think of the batter bowl as your gift basket. Line it with one or more cute, inexpensive kitchen towels and then fill it with little cooking, baking, and miscellaneous fun items. The more colorful the better! Throw in things like baking spoons and spatulas, a cookie dough scoops, cheese graters, and zesters, pretty colored and patterned paper straws, a sandwich crust cutter, the sky’s the limit! Well, actually what all you can fit in the batter bowl is the limit. If you have a favorite family recipe – print it and include a copy or write it on a recipe card to be extra thoughtful. Wrap a bow around it and you are done making the perfect DIY housewarming gift.
I decided to make a Lemonade Kit gift idea. This is so simple, but a really fun gift to give and receive. The gift includes everything you need to be able to whip up some amazing homemade lemonade. Simply gather up the following supplies: glass pitcher (I found mine at Michaels), 6-7 fresh lemons, 1 cup sugar (in a plastic baggie), baker’s twine, free printables (in the link). This is one of the cheapest, easiest DIY gift ideas I have ever assembled. Try it, it will not disappoint.
This is a lovely DIY housewarming gift basket, giving your friend or neighbor the gift of lovely homemade eats is such a well-received gift. Long after this from-scratch cornbread gets gobbled up, the cast-iron skillet will continue to please. Upgrade store-bought extras by transferring orange marmalade to a cute jar and flavoring butter with honey—then pack it all up in a basket. Add a spicy kick to this cheesy cornbread with diced jalapeños and remember flavoring store-bought butter with honey is a simple and delicious addition to the gift basket.
