I love giving old things a new life like this gal in this tutorial does! Besides that, older things have a tendency to hold up better than the new things. It just seems like that were made better. This is strictly my opinion.

At the heart of budget decorating, or DIY decorating, is transforming old things into something fabulous.

Find a used piece with good bones at a thrift store, yard sale or flea market, and change it into something stylish and lovely. Paint is your number one weapon of course, but there are so many creative ways to makeover thrift store finds!

So check out your local yard sales, and check out Goodwill, because a good thrift store furniture makeover rivals a brand new piece of furniture any day.  Did I mention, you are also saving the world by repurposing? It gives me such a great feeling to give an old piece a new life!

It’s amazing what a difference some sandpaper, paint or fresh stain can make and you have a designer look piece to show for it!

Since I lover experiments, Iโ€™ve alwaysnloved to create, paint, as well as cook and style food. I feel in love with DIY as soon as I discovered it and could not have been more excited when I learned I could share projects with people around the world. Taking photos is a passion of mine, as is design and painting with oils. I love holidays and celebrations, crafting cute little gifts and serving up at least one new recipe I am excited about.
