I never thought much about making a solar oven, until that big feeze hit Texas. I really thought I was pretty well prepared, but boy was I in for a big shocking experience! I have been thinking of all kinds of ideas now that could help in such a situation. Having a little solar oven is one idea. I really don’t know why I didn’t remember that the power is the first thing to go out when you are in trouble. I should have known that from years of growing up on the coast because I have been through quite a few hurricanes. I searched the internet and found this awesome DIY solar oven video tutorial by Brainergiser, on YouTube, that looked like a good build and design, but not to difficult to make.

Materials Needed To Make A Cardboard Box Into A Solar Oven:

  • A cardboard box
  • Foul
  • Tape
  • Glue
  • Styrofoam
  • A box cutter
  • Black construction paper
