I always use different slip-on inside and outside our house. This way, I can keep the dust and dirt from sticking to the flooring. So, I decided to sew a house shoe for my next project. Home slippers are actually easy to make, and I learned the steps through this tutorial by Miarti – Sewing Tips on Youtube. It’s super fun, and I was able to use some excess cloth I have from past quilts. Here’s how to sew slippers out of old fabric scraps in 15 minutes.

Place a piece of paper on the front of your foot, and trace how big you want the upper vamp(the section that covers the front of the foot) to be. Next, trace your foot on another piece of paper. Cut both of the shapes.
Place the patterns on one leg of an old pair of jeans, and trace them with 0.4 inches allowance. This will give you two pieces of each pattern. Do it again for your other foot. Next, from your thick fabric scraps, cut 2 pieces of each of the patterns of your left and right foot at the same size. Place them in between the cut jean pieces, then sew them all away around. Do it for both feet.
For the upper vamp, do the same but do not sew it yet. From your assorted fabric scraps, cut 25 pieces of 2-inch squares. Sew 5 pieces for each row, then sew the 5 rows together to make one block. Flip the block so the right side is facing down. Place the layers of fabric for the upper vamp on top of the block, then sew them all away around. Once done, cut the excess patchwork. Do the same for the other foot. Quilt them however you like.
From your remaining scraps, cut the binding for the straight edge of the upper vamp, then sew it in place. Next, clip it to the sole and sew. Lastly, cut the binding for the sole and sew it in place. Do it for both feet.
