These days have been a challenge for everyone, it made us realize just how important cleanliness and hygiene is to keep not only ourselves but also our loved ones safe and healthy. With all of those things said and with our current situation, our trusted companions are rubbing alcohols because not only are they great cleaning agents but also effective in keeping bacteria away. Here are 5 hacks by Clean My Space via YouTube to help keep you safe.

Materials:

  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Spray bottle
  • Essential oil (optional)
  • Microfiber cloth
  • Sock
  • Pure aloe vera gel
  • Nourishing oil
  • Squeeze bottle

Directions:

Hack #1

DIY disinfectant. During flu season, there are a lot of surfaces and areas that are probably infected or filled with bacteria. So, to maintain proper hygiene and cleanliness in the house, get a clean spray bottle then fill it with 1 cup of plain water, 1 cup of rubbing alcohol, and 20 to 30 drops of powerful essential oil like lavender or tea tree. Spray it onto the affected surfaces such as; toilet, sink, couch, etc. Then, let it sit for a couple of minutes before giving it a good wipe.

Hack #2

Horizontal or vertical lines. Clean your vents or blinds by filling a spray bottle with alcohol. Then, insert your hands on a sock and start working on those areas. Flip blinds over to one side lay it flat, give it a good spray, then rub with a sock on every corner.

Hack #3

Electronics cleaner. Cellphones could often get grimy so clean and rid them with fingerprint streaks or marks, mix equal parts of water, and rubbing alcohol on a spritz bottle. Spray it on a flat weave microfiber cloth, remove the phone case and give your phone a good wipe. This method helps lift dirt and remove any discoloration.

Hack #4

Chrome surfaces. Put rubbing alcohol in a soft cloth and wipe chrome fixtures to remove light water spots, polish them up, and disinfect them as well.

Hack #5

Eyeglass cleaner. Get a little spray bottle, then fill it about ¾ way full with rubbing alcohol and fill the rest ¼ part with clean water. Add a drop of dish soap or about half of your pinky nail, then roll the bottle gently in your hands to disperse the contents without producing air bubbles. Spray both sides of the lens and wipe it off with a flat microfiber cloth.

Bonus Hack

DIY hand sanitizer. Get a clean squeeze bottle and mix 1 part of rubbing alcohol, 2 parts of aloe vera gel, 1 tbsp nourishing oil (sweet almond or vitamin e oil), and 15 drops of essential oil. Give a good shake then use.
