I’m a big football fan and right now it gets chilly at night, but a coat is too much, so I wanted to make something specifically for evenings at the football games.

I was searching around on Pinterest for something else when I ran across this great tutorial for making a cape type poncho and that was exactly what I needed! I saw one of them that was made out of a throw that the woman already owned and it had fringe at the bottom, so keep that in mind, as an option, when you’re making yours.

The blanket coat, poncho or cape is this autumn’s coziest trend. These chunky capes are seen in checks, stripes or aztec prints and are great thrown on over any outfit come rain or shine.

Capes and ponchos are so popular this winter, and they’re a fun alternative to cardigans and jackets, so today I’m excited to show you how to make one.

Honestly, these are so quick and easy to make, you can whip one up in just a few minutes!

I found this luxurious tweed woven material at my local fabric store and just had to make something using it. There was a black and white version too so I picked a couple of meters of each up. I experimented with a few design ideas using pattern paper. In the end this shape seemed to work the best and fitted how I wanted to it.
