With Spring in full swing and plenty of time to be spent outdoors, I’ve gotten the gardening bug bad this year. A few years back, we added a couple of planters I’ve really enjoyed using, but this year, that just wasn’t enough for me. Perhaps I’d been looking at cool gardening ideas on Pinterest for too long, but I decided it was time to go big or go home.

All my life, I’ve dreamed of having enormous flower beds in my back yard, the kind that overflow with a cornucopia of varietals. When I decided to add a new bed or two, big ones, I discovered the pickup truck planter. If you’ve never seen one, you are in for a treat because I found inspiration in 45 of them, all different and as pretty as pretty can be. If you love your flowers like I do, this is sure to get you dreaming and thinking big, too. You need not stop at trucks, either! Any old broken down car, van, buggy or cart can be a new home for your colorful blooms and plants. The more broken down and old, the better. Vintage vehicles look the best, in my opinion, but there are also some super cool ideas using newer cars, too! You can add the flowers of your choosing, of course, but I highly recommend you go for a colorful mix you might not otherwise put together. You will be surprised when they all grow together and just start to sort of make sense like they were just meant to be. Pretty sure there is nothing you could not add to this DIY truck planter box and not have it end up looking awesome. Some of these even use pumpkins in the most creative ways, sorry still laughing at the mechanics!

Load her up with potting soil and plants, then you don’t have to do much else. The depth of this bed keeps you from having to water it all the time, too, which is a big plus for me. I can actually go on vacation and not have to worry about the plants in my truck dying of thirst.
