I can remember seeing these when I was a child, but they’ve since become a thing of the past, although, I think we should bring them back…they’re known to bring good luck and they’re so charming!

The idea that a wish would be granted came from the notion that the wishing well had been placed there as a gift from the gods. This practice is thought to have arisen because water is a source of life, and was often a scarce commodity centuries ago.

Traditionally it was thought that wishes were tto be granted, especially if  coins were dropped into the water.

Now you can make your very own wishing well out of pallet wood and bring back a much loved tradition.

These add a lot of rustic charm to the aesthetics of your yard or garden and they look beautiful with ivy growing on them and/or plant flowers inside of it in the spring.

Your children will be fascinated knowing there’s a wishing well in their yard and you can tell them the story about wishing wells. They’ve probably never heard of one of these so it will be a great educational experience for them, but be prepared to have some coins handy. They’ll be wanting to make wishes in it!
