I recently created my own vegetable garden in my backyard. One problem that I encountered is the insects roaming around and killing some of my plants. I want to harvest and eat these vegetables in the future, so chemical insecticide is a no for me. Luckily, I found this video by ehowgarden and learned that there are a lot of natural insecticides that you can easily make at home. These are not only effective but also safe too. Make sure to try these at home.

Insecticide 2

Materials:

  • quart of water
  • two cloves of garlic
  • spray bottle

Instructions:

In another quart of water in a different container, add two cloves of garlic that are minced or pressed. Mix well, then let it sit for about an hour or more. This will allow the oils from the garlic to permeate the water. After an hour, transfer it to a spray bottle.

Insecticide 3

Materials:

  • one cup of canola oil
  • one gallon of water

Instructions:

In a container, combine one cup of canola oil and one gallon of water. Put it in a spray bottle or watering can.

Note: Make sure to test these solutions first by spraying a small amount on a plant. Do not use too much at first, as you don’t want to burn or shock the plants in any way but you want to deter or kill the insects.
